Perry Center Welcomes Delegation from the US Army War College

On Wednesday, 13 May 2026, the William J. Perry Center for Hemispheric Defense Studies hosted a delegation of 16 fellows pursuing their master’s degrees at the US Army War College, including three international students from Brazil, Greece, and Japan. The visit fostered an exchange of perspectives on regional security challenges and strategic priorities affecting the Western Hemisphere.

Perry Center Deputy Director Ruben Lopez and Dean of Academic Affairs Dr. William Godnick welcomed the delegation. Mr. Lopez offered opening remarks, and Dr. Godnick provided an organizational brief outlining the Perry Center’s mission, academic programs, and regional engagement activities.

The delegation was led by Dr. Leone Musgrave, faculty lead for the US Army War College group. Participants engaged in a roundtable dialogue with Perry Center faculty, joined by Perry Center Interim Director COL John D. Suggs, focused on the implications for the Western Hemisphere emerging from the US National Security Strategy and National Defense Strategy.

The discussion included remarks from Perry Center professors Dr. Luis Bitencourt, Dr. Arturo Sotomayor, and Jeffrey Zinsmeister, as well as Research Associate Sydney Knapp, who shared perspectives on recent strategic research and professional practice. The session also featured introductions from students and faculty, encouraging a dynamic exchange of ideas and experiences among participants.
