On April 14, 2026, the William J. Perry Center for Hemispheric Defense Studies hosted a delegation of 51 members from the Western Hemisphere Institute for Security Cooperation (WHINSEC). Perry Center Interim Director Colonel John Suggs Jr., Dean of Academic Affairs Dr. William Godnick, and Professor Dr. Arturo Sotomayor welcomed the group.

Dr. Godnick delivered welcome remarks and provided an organizational briefing on the Perry Center, highlighting its mission to strengthen security and defense cooperation, promote strategic dialogue, and support institutional capacity-building in the Western Hemisphere. Dr. Sotomayor then presented on space and artificial intelligence, underscoring their strategic implications for hemispheric security and the region’s contemporary challenges.

The session concluded with a question-and-answer exchange that fostered dialogue between participants and faculty.
