From April 13 to 15, 2026, William J. Perry Center for Hemispheric Defense Studies Professor of Practice Celina Realuyo conducted a series of high-level engagements in Chile to promote dialogue on regional security priorities and strengthen institutional partnerships.
During her visit, Realuyo met with Chilean Minister of Defense Fernando Barros to discuss the Americas Counter Cartel Coalition, the evolution of the US National Security Strategy, and opportunities to expand collaboration between the United States and Chile through Perry Center academic programs. The discussion supported shared priorities and reinforced a trusted, strategic partnership.
Realuyo delivered a lecture at the National Academy of Political and Strategic Studies (ANEPE) on the implications of the 2025 US National Security Strategy for Latin America, engaging approximately 60 academics and researchers. The session fostered a collaborative exchange and advanced dialogue on regional security challenges with this Perry Center partner institution.
She also participated as a panelist in the US Embassy’s America 250: Freedom event at the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile in Santiago. The panel, The Future of National Security: Chile and the United States, explored emerging challenges and opportunities in bilateral defense and security cooperation, highlighting the importance of coordinated and solutions-focused approaches.
At the Chilean Army War Academy, Realuyo delivered a lecture on US national security and defense strategies to 30 professors and senior Chilean Army officers, supporting professional education and strengthening shared understanding of strategic priorities.
These engagements reflect the Perry Center’s mission-driven, results-oriented approach to advancing security cooperation in the Western Hemisphere and its commitment to delivering high-quality professional education.
