From October 14 to 16, the William J. Perry Center for Hemispheric Defense Studies joined US Secretary of the Navy Carlos Del Toro at the 16th Conference of Defense Ministers of the Americas (CDMA) in Mendoza, Argentina, hosted by Minister of Defense Dr. Luis Alfonso Petri.
From September 23 to September 27, the Perry Center welcomed its inaugural Emerging Leaders Summit (ELS) cohort, consisting of 24 rising security and defense professionals from 13 Latin American countries. The participants were welcomed by Perry Center Director Dr. Paul J. Angelo and Dean of Academic Affairs Dr. William Godnick.
From October 9-10, the William J. Perry Center for Hemispheric Defense Studies joined the Police of the Province of Cordoba in Argentina to conduct an executive education program focused on the challenges posed by organized crime in the global and Latin American contexts.
This month the Perry Center celebrates 27 years empowering security and defense professionals from the Hudson Bay to Tierra del Fuego, 27 years building trust with individuals and institutions committed to making the Americas safer and stronger, 27 years convening practitioners in an environment of intellectual openness and exchange, and 27 years championing democratic values and the meaningful integration of civilians, women, and interagency partners into security and defense decision making.
On September 9, 2024, the Perry Center launched the resident phase of two courses: "Climate Change and Implications for Defense and Security" and "Governance and Strategy for Security and Defense." In total, 99 professionals representing 25 countries will spend the next two weeks in Washington, DC, engaging with top officials and subject matter experts.
