From December 10-12, the Perry Center participated in the 2024 Caribbean Nations Security Conference (CANSEC) in Trinidad and Tobago. This year's conference gathered defense leaders from 16 nations under the theme "Strengthening Bonds, Securing Futures: United for Regional Security."
From November 22 to 30, 2024, the William J. Perry Center for Hemispheric Defense Studies, in partnership with the Metropolitan University of Asuncion (UMA), executed a comprehensive agenda of forums, workshops, and institutional visits to enhance regional cybersecurity knowledge and address strategic geopolitical challenges.
On December 11, 2024, Perry Center Professor Celina Realuyo gave a presentation at a discussion organized by Chile's National Academy for Political and Strategic Studies (ANEPE) on global threats from the perspective of the United States.
In 2024, we conducted a new Defense Education Pedagogy (DEP) course to examine how defense educational institutions design and deliver their programs. For nine weeks, 80 practitioners from 15 Latin American countries met virtually to compare and discuss their respective approaches to defense education.
On November 26, we welcomed a delegation of 85 graduating cadets from Argentina's Air Force Academy, led by Director of the Air Force Academy Major General Marcelo Abel Ramadori and Defense and Air Attaché in Washington, DC, Brigadier General Carlos Gabriel Cendon.
On November 12, we hosted a visit by Peru's Center for Advanced National Studies (CAEN-EPG). Colonel Felipe Santa Cruz led the group of 32 participants, who were welcomed by Dean of Academic Affairs William Godnick, Associate Dean for Research and Publications Patrick Paterson, and Professor David Spencer.
From November 4 to 8, the Perry Center Women, Peace, and Security (WPS) team of Dr. Holly Peirce, Dr. Arturo Sotomayor, and Ms. Sydney Knapp, proudly supported the Western Hemisphere Women, Peace, and Security Regional Event alongside USNORTHCOM, USSOUTHCOM, and partner nations in Mexico at CESNAV/SEMAR.
