From October 9-10, the William J. Perry Center for Hemispheric Defense Studies joined the Police of the Province of Cordoba in Argentina to conduct an executive education program focused on the challenges posed by organized crime in the global and Latin American contexts. Perry Center Director Dr. Paul J. Angelo and General Director of Criminal Investigations Commissioner General Attorney at Law Alberto Bietti of Cordoba kicked off the two-day program for 162 professionals from more than 20 agencies from Cordoba, other provinces, and federal forces.

Participants analyzed how transnational organized crime influences governance and how various aspects of crime and violence affect the region. Participants received in-person and virtual presentations from leading experts, including Perry Center alums Dr. Maria Teresa Belandria Exposito, Bruno Langeani, Federico Agustin Pelli, and Maximiliano Scarimbolo. The sessions fostered collaboration and the development of effective integrated strategies to counter and manage these challenges.

In addition, Dr. Paul Angelo lectured on focused deterrence for crime prevention, Dr. Holly Peirce addressed women, peace and security in confronting organized crime, and Professor Celina Realuyo presented on money laundering and the financial aspects of organized crime. The Minister of Security of the Province of Cordoba, Dr. Pablo Quinteros, offered closing remarks to conclude the program.
