On July 14, 2021, the Perry Center facilitated the second of a series of virtual roundtables to support the Ministry of Defense of the Dominican Republic in their effort to develop their new Defense White Paper. This roundtable was led by Perry Center Professor William Godnick and focused on the issue of defense budgets. Expert presentations were delivered by Perry Center adjunct professor Roman Ortiz and former defense official from the Republic of Argentina Fernando Cafferata. The event was closed by Brigadier General Elvis Almonte in his role as the President of the Permanent Commission for the Reform and Modernization of the Armed Forces who shared the current state of affairs as related defense budgets in the Dominican Republic.
