On June 17, 2021 the Perry Center hosted the webinar “Understanding Mexico’s Security Conundrum” which is also the title the book by author and guest speaker Dr. Agustin Maciel-Padilla, former Mexican government official and WJPC alumnus. Dr. Maciel-Padilla began his remarks by explaining the notion of national security in Mexico and addressed the security challenges facing the country. He went on to describe the distinctions between national, internal, and public security and provided context regarding the long-term goals in confronting the severe insecurity in Mexico. Dr. Bill Godnick moderated the event which was attended by over 160 online participants.
