CHDS, in collaboration with the Colegio de Altos Estudios Estrategicos (CAEE), conducted a NationLab exercise from June 26 through 28 in San Salvador. The event, a core component of its Security and National Development course, was attended by 56 persons, mostly civilians, from a variety of organizations. The course participants functioned as a cabinet and advisory board to develop the responses required by a complex disaster, in this case, a major earthquake affecting the country, followed days later with a Tsunami in the coastal areas. The program structure focused on the application of national plans and procedures for the emergency, the protection of critical infrastructure, and crisis management, and decision-making processes.
