Nearly 80 graduates of the Perry Center convened in Bogota, Colombia, for a significant networking event, marking a notable occasion for the alumni community. The event saw the participation of a Perry Center delegation including Dr. Paul Angelo, Professor Celina Realuyo, Dr. Boris Saavedra, Kara O’Ryan, and Valeria Rojas. During the gathering, Dr. Jesus Alberto Ruiz Mora, the president of the Colombian Alumni Chapter, announced the launch of an innovative initiative titled the “Hemispheric Forum: Forging Humanity for Security and Development.” This initiative aims to redefine the approach to security and defense by integrating fundamental human values, ethics, inclusion, and peace. Dr. Ruiz elaborated on the mission of the Hemispheric Forum, stating, “The forum seeks to balance the exercise of security and defense with the promotion of human values. Our goal is to create a space that contributes to societal well-being, enhances social cohesion, and strengthens cooperation and diplomacy across the hemisphere.”
