On December 6, we welcomed Argentina’s Secretary of International Affairs for Defense Juan Battaleme. Secretary Battaleme and a delegation of defense and diplomatic officials were greeted by Perry Center Deputy Director Ruben Lopez, Dean of Special Projects Scott D. Tollefson, Chief of Outreach and Alumni Affairs Kara O’Ryan, and Professors Luis Bitencourt, Arturo Sotomayor, and Jeffrey E. Zinsmeister. During the visit, the groups engaged in a roundtable discussion about an upcoming course on “Defense Governance Before Complex Threats” – a collaborative initiative between the Perry Center and Argentina’s National Defense University (UNDEF) – and reinforced their shared commitment to advancing defense education and collaboration. The Perry Center last hosted Secretary Battaleme in November to follow up on discussions held at the Conference of Defense Ministers of the Americas in Mendoza.
