On November 5, we had the honor of hosting Ecuador’s Minister of Defense, Gian Carlo Loffredo, along with a delegation that included Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Admiral Jaime Vela Erazo and Under Secretary of Defense Brigadier General Frank Landazuri. They were welcomed by Perry Center Director Dr. Paul J. Angelo, faculty, and staff. During the visit, Dr. Angelo provided an overview of the Center’s academic offerings, discussed potential collaboration with Ecuador’s defense institutions, and emphasized the Center’s commitment to incorporating Women, Peace, and Security (WPS) principles into professional education. This visit builds on our February engagement, when we partnered with Ecuador’s University of the Armed Forces (ESPE) to deliver a Strategy and Defense Policy mobile course in Quito, and on our June visit to deliver a National Security Planning Workshop to representatives from across Ecuador’s national ministries and agencies.
