On February 8, Director Paul J. Angelo represented the Perry Center as an observer at the 2023 Central American Security Conference, co-hosted by US Southern Command and Costa Rica’s Ministry of Public Security. US and Central American security leaders from 13 nations gathered to discuss cybersecurity, climate change, and human rights under the theme “Regional Collaboration Opportunities to Address 21st Century Challenges.” Perry Center Professor Patrick Paterson, PhD, and Visiting Professor Juan Carlos Gomez facilitated high-level dialogues on climate change and human rights. Delegations attended from Belize, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, Guatemala, Honduras, Panama, Colombia, Mexico, France, Canada, United Kingdom, Royal Netherlands, and United States.
