Argentina seeks a closer relationship with NATO, recently taking steps to formalize its affiliation as a NATO global partner. Against the backdrop of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in 2022 and on the heels of NATO’s 75th Anniversary Summit in Washington, deeper cooperation with NATO may be of interest to other democracies in the Latin America and Caribbean region.

During this webinar, we will explore what global partners mean for NATO, as well as the process to acquire this distinction. We will also assess Colombia’s experience after formalizing its NATO partner status in 2018. Finally, we will hear from the Argentine Ministry of Defense as it evaluates the advantages of integration with the world’s premier defense alliance.

Webinar participants will have the opportunity to ask questions of panelists to better understand the requirements, obligations, and opportunities that NATO partnership implies and to delve into the Alliance’s growing relevance for the countries of the Americas.

The Perry Center will issue certificates of participation for those who complete a short post-webinar survey.
