On February 26, 2026, the William J. Perry Center for Hemispheric Defense Studies hosted Mr. Brad Strausbaugh, Senior Official Performing the Duties of the Deputy Assistant Secretary of War for Americas Security Affairs (ASA). He was accompanied by ASA Chief of Operations Captain Sebastian Crawford and Caribbean Desk Officer Mr. Chase Boone. Director Dr. Paul J. Angelo, Deputy Director Mr. Ruben Lopez, and Dean of Academic Affairs Dr. William Godnick received the delegation.

Perry Center leadership discussed upcoming academic programming and provided an overview of the Center’s mission and recent activities. The conversation focused on strengthening collaboration, aligning academic initiatives with Department priorities, and advancing shared efforts in support of regional security cooperation. Mr. Strausbaugh also observed an academic session on the US defense budget during the Perry Center’s Washington Security and Defense Seminar.
