LTG Hooper Visits the Perry Center

On March 1, LTG Charles Hooper, Director, Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA), visited the Perry Center to meet with LTG (ret.) Frederick Rudesheim and learn about WJPC’s educational, outreach, and research programs. A career foreign area officer in the US Army, LTG Hooper is responsible for leading the Department of Defense’s security cooperation community and providing vital support to the Regional Centers for Security Studies, including the Perry Center. Accompanying LTG Hooper were DSCA’s Deputy Director, Mr. Gregory Kausner; DSCA’s Principal Director for Building Partner Capacity, Mr. Robert Helfant; and DSCA staff.

Dr. Scott Tollefson, Dean of Academic Affairs, described the mission of the Perry Center and how faculty design and deliver a curriculum to further that mission. Later, Professor Alejandro Alemán, Professor Celina Realuyo, and Professor Pat Paterson outlined WJPC’s three major academic programs: defense governance, transnational threats, and human rights, respectively. All three programs directly support current objectives identified by the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Policy, US Southern Command, and US Northern Command,
