On March 20, 2018, Perry Center Professor Celina Realuyo testified on “US Efforts to Counter the Convergence of Terrorism and Crime with the Financial Instrument of National Power” at a hearing entitled “Exploring the Financial Nexus of Terrorism, Drug Trafficking and Organized Crime” before the House Financial Services Subcommittee on Terrorism and Illicit Finance. She spoke on how the US uses financial intelligence to counter terrorists, criminals and rogues states, including the ISIS, Hezbollah, the FARC, Taliban, Mexican cartels, North Korea and Venezuela. Other witnesses included Joseph Humire, Executive Director, Center for a Secure Free Society, Derek Maltz, Executive Director, Government Relations, Pen-Link, Ltd., and Dr. Louise Shelley, Professor, Schar School of Policy and Government, George Mason University.
