On April 22-24, the Perry Center facilitated a seminar in Guatemala City, organized by the Guatemalan Technical Secretariat for the National Security Council (Secretaría Técnica del Consejo Nacional de Seguridad – STCNS) to evaluate the progress of the country’s National Security Plan. The event, which is the second seminar conducted on the topic, included more than 70 representatives from across the security and defense institutions of the government of Guatemala.

Following the presentation of Guatemala’s National Security Plan implementation strategy by Minister Mauricio Lopez Bonilla, Perry Center Professors Pedro de la Fuente, Michael Gold-Biss, Kevin Newmeyer, and Boris Saavedra facilitated discussions on the identification of key objectives and metrics, progress toward security goal attainment, and financial and human resources necessary to fully implement the National Security Plan, in order to allow for its continuity and update over 2016–2018.
