On October 19, the Perry Center hosted 200 students from Brazil’s High War College and High Defense College. The group was welcomed by National Defense University President Lieutenant General Michael T. Plehn, Perry Center Director Dr. Paul J. Angelo, Dean of Academic Affairs Dr. Scott Tollefson, Associate Dean Dr. Patrick Paterson, Colonel Barbara Fick, PhD, and Professors Dr. Luis Bitencourt, and Dr. Arturo Sotomayor. Dr. Angelo offered welcome remarks, followed by Dr. Tollefson’s presentation about the Center’s mission, upcoming courses, and commitment to promoting security and defense in the region. The Perry Center then hosted a panel titled “Global Competition and US Strategy for Latin America ‘Integrated Deterrence’: A Concept for the Security and Defense of the Hemisphere.” Dr. Bitencourt moderated the discussion in which Colonel Fick and Drs. Paterson and Sotomayor served as panelists.
