Perry Center professors are often called upon to serve as subject-matter experts, whether lecturing in-person at the events of other institutions or via video teleconference (VTC). Since this month began, our professors have already participated in several VTCs:

On October 1, Professor Guillermo Pacheco gave a presentation on strategic leadership to an audience of 45 master’s program students and faculty at the National Defense College of Honduras (Colegio de Defensa Nacional – CDN).

Prof. Saavedra speaking about defense economics

On October 9, Professor Boris Saavedra gave a presentation on the economy of defense to the Graduate School of Advanced Strategic Studies (Escuela de Graduados de Altos Estudios Estratégicos – EGAE) in the Dominican Republic. This lecture, coordinated and proposed by EGAE, is the first in a requested series of VTCs and was very successful. Professor Saavedra spoke with 46 current EGAE master’s program students and staff.

Prof. Realuyo discussing the threat of ISIS

Also on October 9, Professor Celina Realuyo gave a presentation on the ISIS threat to an audience that comprised faculty and graduates of the Technological University (Universidad Tecnológica – UTEC) of El Salvador, alumni of the Perry Center and the Centro de Altos Estudios Estratégicos, and invited guests. Additionally, 18 other viewers tuned in from throughout the Hemisphere, including from Mexico, Chile, Paraguay, Colombia, Argentina, the United States, and other nations. The event was organized by the El Salvador alumni association and presented in partnership with UT and the Transparency Foundation (Fundación Transparencia).
