Chase is on detail serving as Caribbean Country Director at Americas Security Affairs within the Office of the Under Secretary of War for Policy. As a country director, Chase covers the Caribbean portfolio where he manages regional policy coordination and senior-level engagement for Caribbean security and defense affairs, managing bilateral and multilateral portfolios across the Department and interagency.

At his parent agency, Chase serves as a research associate at the William J. Perry Center for Hemispheric Defense Studies, located at the National Defense University in Washington, DC As one of the Department of Defense’s six regional centers, his work at the Perry Center focused on security cooperation with partners in Latin America and the Caribbean. Chase has spent over a decade researching the region, specializing in Latin American history, politics, and security and defense.

Prior to his work at the Perry Center, Chase was an AmeriCorps Spanish Literacy Tutor in Austin, Texas, before serving in the Dominican Republic as a Literacy Promotor for the Peace Corps. Thereafter, Chase worked in Bogotá, Colombia, as a research assistant at an economic think-tank focused on macroeconomic risk, energy market efficiency, and public-sector investment strategies.

Chase has an MA in security studies with a concentration in terrorism and substate violence from Georgetown University’s Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service.
