Space Policy and Strategy in the Western Hemisphere is a one-month asynchronous virtual course that builds foundational awareness of space as a critical domain for national security, economic development, and strategic competition across the Western Hemisphere. Through a scalable format, the course enables partner nation civilian and military leaders to understand space governance, emerging capabilities, and the implications of increased state and commercial activity in space.

The course consists of 10 modules, which may be tailored to partner nation requirements. Modules draw from core topics including: the historical evolution of space activities, foundational theories of space power, international space governance frameworks, strategic competition in space, regional space initiatives with an emphasis on Latin America, and debates surrounding the militarization of space.

Each module includes:

  • Curated readings and policy documents
  • Pre-recorded lectures from U.S. and regional subject matter experts
  • Structured online discussion boards to facilitate peer engagement
  • Facilitator-led virtual office hours for guided interaction

As a culminating exercise, participants will develop a policy paper or strategic memorandum addressing a national or regional space policy challenge.
