On March 30, English and Spanish-speaking alumni from the Western Hemisphere and the Caribbean gathered in-person and virtually for the third annual Alumni Day celebration. Among the guests, WJPC director Dr. Paul Angelo, WJPC faculty and staff, US Embassy representatives, Honduras Defense University (UDH), National University of Honduras (UNAH), Honduras National Defense College (CDN) authorities attended in-person at a gathering in Tegucigalpa hosted by the Honduras WJPC Alumni Chapter’s board of directors. Simultaneously, the Guatemalan Alumni Chapter coordinated an in-person gathering at the Ministry of Interior with Minister Barrientos Giron, local alumni, WJPC staff and faculty in attendance. This alumni activity was the first fully hybrid event that was attended by over 200 participants and was transmitted simultaneously from Washington DC, Honduras, and Guatemala to the entire WJPC community.

The concept of Alumni Day was initially conceived by an alumni working group, then quickly embraced by the Perry Center leadership, and March 27 was designated as Alumni Day in commemoration of the graduation date of the first Perry Center resident course in 1998. Alumni Day is an annual event to celebrate the impact and strength of the alumni network with a focus on community, cooperation, and leadership.
