Brazilian War College Visits the Perry Center

On Wednesday, April 18, 2018 the Commander of the Brazilian War College (Escola Superior de Guerra – ESG), General Décio Luís Schöns, and a delegation of senior Brazilian officials visited the William J. Perry Center for Hemispheric Defense Studies. The delegation included: Rear Admiral Newton Calvoso Pinto Homen, Naval Attaché; Major General Jorge Cardoso Martins, Chief of Delegation of brazil to the Inter-American Defense Board; Major General Fabio Benvenutti Castro, Army Attaché; Major General Alcides Teixeira Barbacovi, Defense and Air Attaché; Rear Admiral (ret.) Guilherme Mattos de Abreu, Professor National War College; Colonel Potiguara Vieira Campos, Assistant Defense Attaché; and Captain Herlon Stricker do Valle, Aide de Camp.

Dean of Academic Affairs, Dr. Scott Tollefson, welcomed the group and briefly described the history, mission, and organization of the Perry Center. Subsequently, Director Rudesheim highlighted the importance of communication and institutional collaboration between the two organizations. In addition to LTG (ret.) Frederick S. Rudesheim and Dr. Tollefson; Chief of Strategic Plans and Communications, COL Steven Angerthal; Professor of Practice Dr. William Godnick; and Senior Research Fellow COL (ret.) John “Jay” Cope, were also present with both organizations discussing desired future academic exchanges.
