On June 5, 2023, Professor Celina Realuyo guest lectured virtually on “Corruption and Illicit Financial Flows as a Threat to Democracy in the Americas” for the Universidade Presbiteriana Mackenzie’s Political and Economic Law Graduate Program in São Paulo, Brazil. She spoke on how corruption at all levels of government and in all sectors of society, as revealed through the Panama Papers, threatens democracy and undermines the rule of law across the Western Hemisphere. She underscored the need for countries to legislate against corruption and money laundering and keep up to date with emerging technologies like cryptocurrencies that are increasingly being abused to move illicit financial flows related to corruption, terrorism and crime.
