CHDS Hosts Delegation from the Mexican National Defense College

On May 5th the Center for Hemispheric Defense Studies received a group of 60 faculty and students from the Mexican National Defense College (Colegio de Defensa Nacional – CDN) headed by Brigadier General Ernesto Aguilera Casados, at National Defense University’s Abraham Lincoln Hall. The group was welcomed by the CHDS Director, Dr. Richard Downie, and the President of the National Defense University, Vice Admiral Ann E. Rondeau.

CHDS Deputy Director Ken LaPlante briefed the CDN visitors on both the National Defense University and CHDS. Additionally, Professor Kevin Newmeyer gave a presentation on CHDS’ NationLab program which serves as a platform for crisis simulation and gaming with partner institutions. Dr. Craig Deare, associate dean at the NDU College of International Security Affairs (CISA), also gave a presentation on his institution. Dr. Deare is a former member of the faculty at CHDS.

The program concluded with a lunch provided courtesy of the Office of the Defense Attaché at the United States Embassy in Mexico.
