On February 18-19, 2016, the Perry Center, in partnership with the WJPC El Salvador Alumni Association and the Ministry of Defense, conducted a Countering Transnational Threats Seminar in San Salvador for 46 security and defense officials, under the auspices of the Ministry of Defense and El Salvador’s Regional Center on Training against Transnational Organized Crime (CRACCT). Counterterrorism, transnational organized crime, cybersecurity, external actors, and strategies to counter these threats in the Americas were among the topics discussed by US and Salvadoran officials.

The Perry Center also participated in a separate seminar on February 17, 2016 at CAEE (Colegio de Altos Estudios Estratégicos) focused on US-Central American cooperation in combating transnational organized crime with 55 senior leaders from the Ministry of Defense and Public Security forces and civilians from the interagency.  This WJPC outreach engagement is an example of our new initiative to export our academic programming to the region in a bilateral format, tailored to the host nation’s specific security and defense interests.
