On April 1, 2025, the William J. Perry Center for Hemispheric Defense Studies welcomed a group of eight security cooperation and bilateral affairs officers assigned to US embassies across the Western Hemisphere. Perry Center Director, Dr. Paul Angelo, and Associate Director of Outreach and Communications, Dr. Holly Peirce, welcomed the officers and provided an overview of the center’s mission and recent activities. The visit highlighted the role of the Defense Department’s Regional Center Enterprise in strengthening security cooperation, fostering enduring partnerships, and enhancing servicemembers’ understanding of challenges to regional peace and stability. Through these discussions, the officers gained a deeper understanding of strategic defense considerations and the complexities of bilateral and multilateral collaboration in Latin America and the Caribbean.
