Students from the Inter-American Air Forces Academy (IAAFA) visited the Perry Center today as a part of that institution’s two-day orientation visit to Washington, DC, to enhance students’ understanding of governmental and international organizations. The delegation included 46 students from 11 Western Hemisphere countries, including 13 United States Air Force students, who are enrolled in two international professional military education development courses: The Inter-American Squadron Officer School (ISOS) and the Inter-American Noncommissioned Officer Academy (INCOA).
Dr. Boris Saavedra welcomed the group and briefly described the history, mission, and organization of the William J. Perry Center. Later, he discussed professional development for both military personnel and defense civilians and explained why continuing education is essential to increasing the efficacy and efficiency of defense institutions. During their time in Washington, DC, the delegation will visit the Inter-American Defense College, the Pentagon, and the United States Southern Command Washington Office.
