The Perry Center received Major General Fernando José Soares da Cunha Mattos, Deputy Chief for Planning, Brazilian Army General Staff, accompanied by Major General João Batista Bezerra Leonel Filho, Military Attaché of the Embassy of Brazil to the United States of America and to Canada, and Colonel Israel Guimarães de Sousa Martins, from the Brazilian Army General Staff.

The visit, organized in response to a request by the Brazilian Army, also included the participation of National Defense University’s faculty, and addressed prospects for future cooperation between the Perry Center, NDU, and the Ministry of Defense of Brazil, especially with respect to military education models.

The discussion allowed for the identification of several points of contact and convergence between the systems existing in both countries. It also underscored the existence of a very positive climate of cooperation in the area of defense education.
