On Monday, October 16, the Perry Center welcomed a delegation of students from Paraguay’s Institute of Advanced Strategic Studies (Instituto de Altos Estudios Estratégicos – IAEE). Led by Colonel Patricio Cáceres, IAEE Director, and accompanied by Hon. Justo Zacarías Irún, Governor of Alto Paraná, Paraguay, and Ms. María Teresa Peralta, CEO of Itaipú Technological Park, the delegation included 49 masters students enrolled in IAEE’s National Strategic Planning Course.

Dr. Scott Tollefson, Perry Center Dean of Academic Affairs, welcomed the group and briefly described the Center’s history, mission, and organization. Professor Celina Realuyo then presented on combating the convergence of terrorism and organized crime in the Americas. During their time in Washington, IAEE students will also visit the Inter-American Defense Board, the Inter-American Defense College, and various landmarks across the city.
