Dear Friends,

It has been my great privilege to serve as Director of the William J. Perry Center for Hemispheric Defense Studies for the past four years in support of its important and impactful mission: The Perry Center develops and engages the Western Hemisphere’s community of defense and security professionals to seek mutually supportive approaches to security and defense challenges in order to develop effective sustainable institutional capacity and promote a greater understanding of US regional policy.

While my term concludes this month, the Perry Center remains your Center, steadfast in its commitment to foster collaborative relationships with individuals and institutions dedicated to making the Americas safer and stronger.

In recent years we faced new challenges due to the pandemic, but the Center’s clear focus and collaborative efforts were constant. Indeed, the unwavering dedication of our outstanding faculty and staff has been demonstrated through myriad challenges for a quarter century.

I was honored to guide the Center into its 25th anniversary year, and I am most grateful for the trust placed in me by Perry Center alumni and partners. Everything we accomplished together was based on mutual trust. I am confident the Center will continue to be a respected and responsive regional partner.

Very respectfully,

LTG (ret.) Frederick S. Rudesheim
Director of the William J. Perry Center for Hemispheric Defense Studies
