Perry Center Holds Regional Transnational Threats Seminar in Panama

June 5-7, 2018, the Perry Center and the Panamanian Ministry of Public Security convened 70 security and defense professionals from 11 countries for a Central American Regional Seminar on Countering Transnational Threat Networks in Panama City, Panama. The event was inaugurated by Panamanian Minister of Public Security Alexis Bethancourt, Vice Minister of Public Security Jonattan del Rosario, and Perry Center Director LTG (ret.) Frederick S. Rudesheim.

During the three-day seminar, practitioners participated in a series of interactive panel sessions led by subject-matter experts from Belize, Canada, Colombia, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, El Salvador, the United States, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, and Panama. Participant discussions focused on the dynamic threats posed by international terrorism, transnational organized crime, cybersecurity and natural disasters, and policy approaches to address these challenges in the Americas.
