Perry Center Hosts Dominican Naval Command and Staff Graduate School

On July 22, 2026, the William J. Perry Center for Hemispheric Defense Studies welcomed 25 students and faculty from the Naval Command and Staff Graduate School of the Dominican Republic for an official academic visit.

The delegation received an overview of the Perry Center and an introduction to the U.S. National Security Strategy and National Defense Strategy from Dean of Academic Affairs Dr. William Godnick. The visit also featured a presentation by Professor of Practice Jeffrey Zinsmeister on the emerging competition between the United States and China to establish normative frameworks in the cyber domain.

Participants engaged in active discussion and debate on contemporary security challenges and strategic competition. In addition to officers from the Dominican Republic, the delegation included international students from Guatemala and Honduras, fostering a valuable multinational exchange.

The visit reflects the Perry Center’s continued commitment to strengthening regional partnerships and advancing professional defense education across the Americas.
