On February 1, 2018, Professor Celina Realuyo, Linda Denning and Maria Fernanda Martinez from the Perry Center met with Panama’s Minister of Public Security Alexis Bethancourt Yau and his advisors to discuss preparations for the third annual Central American Regional Countering Transnational Threats Seminar that Panama will co-host with the US in June in Panama City, Panama.

For the past three years, the Perry Center has been convening sub-regional seminars for the Caribbean, Central America, and South America where senior US and foreign defense and security professionals including many of our alumni, examine emerging transnational threat networks and promote responses to these threats. Through a series of subject matter expert lectures and interactive country panel presentations, seminar participants focus on international terrorism, transnational organized crime, cybersecurity and unmanned systems, and inclusive security and evaluate strategies and policies to counter these threats.
