Perry Center Professor Briefs on the Emerging Threats from Transnational Organized Crime in the Americas

On April 11, 2023, Professor Celina Realuyo briefed Caribbean, Bermuda & Latin America Crime Stoppers Foundation on “Emerging Threats from Transnational Organized Crime in the Americas.” She highlighted the threats from synthetic drugs like fentanyl, irregular migration, online markets and the abuse of cryptocurrencies in the Caribbean and Latin America. The 43 participants included Alex McDonald President of CBLA Crime Stoppers Foundation, Alejo Campos, Regional Director of CBLA Crime Stoppers Foundation, staff of Caribbean, Bermuda & Latin America Crime Stoppers and law enforcement and customs agents from the Caribbean and Central America. This engagement represents the academic collaboration between the Perry Center and the civic and non-profit sector organizations working to promote security and prosperity in the Americas.
