Last week a delegation from the Perry Center visited the Dominican Republic to participate several activities which included a three-day NationLab seminar and a forum.

On September 2nd, professors RADM (ret.) Pedro de la Fuente, Mr. Guillermo Pacheco, and BG (ret.) Boris Saavedra participated in a forum organized by the Ministry of Energy and Mining titled “Energy Security as a Component of National Defense.” The Minister of Energy and Mining, Pelegrin Castillo Seman and Vice Minister of Security, Energy and Infrastructures, Antonio Herrera Cruz, presided at the forum’s opening ceremony.

There were approximately 137 participants from various sectors of security and defense, many of who are alumni of the Perry Center. In addition to the successful forum, professors de la Fuente, Pacheco and Saavedra conducted a NationLab at the Escuela de Graduados de Altos Estudios Estrategicos (EGAEE) that began on September 3rd. EGAEE Director, General Luis Francisco de Leon Rodriguez, RADM (ret.) Pablo Pena Caimares, and General Carlos Rafael Paulino Rojas presided at the NationLab opening ceremony. Mr. Mark Walkins, Perry Center Director, presided at the NationLab closing ceremony.
