On December 7, 2023, Perry Center Professor Celina Realuyo spoke on “Countering Terrorism and Transnational Crime in the Americas” on the Countering Transnational Threats and Border Insecurity Panel at the 26th Parliamentary Intelligence-Security Forum (PISF) at the US Senate in Washington, DC. She explained how irregular migration could enable criminals and terrorist foreign fighters to move across borders. She also shared FBI Director Wray’s warning that the Israel-Hamas war could inspire Islamic terrorist attacks around the world, including in the Western Hemisphere. PISF convened over 200 parliamentarians from the US, Asia, Africa, Europe, Latin America, the Middle East for this two-day forum in Washington. This forum covered topics such as global security challenges, transnational crime, illicit financing, digital currencies, energy and supply chain security, cyber and space domains, adversarial foreign investments, and emerging technologies (5G and AI).
