2012

Oscar Mira, a 2012 Perry Center PHSD course graduate, has been appointed as the new Minister of National Defense and Border Security of Belize. He previously served as Vice Minister of Defense and is a former Major in the Belize Defense Force (BDF). He also worked at the US Embassy in Belize as a Foreign Service National Investigator. Throughout his military career, Minister Mira attended courses at the Perry Center, the George C. Marshall Center, and military institutions in Canada, the United Kingdom, and Taiwan. The US Security Cooperation Office (SCO) in Belize maintains an excellent relationship with the new Minister and looks forward to strengthening the US-Belize military partnership.
