On June 18 the Perry Center presented the next sub-regional webinar: Perspectives on the Impact of COVID-19 in the Caribbean. Dr. Bill Godnick introduced presentations by the guest speakers, both Perry Center alumni, and moderated a lively question-and-answer session. Ms. Alana Wheeler, Director, Counter-Trafficking Unit, Trinidad and Tobago Ministry of National Security, discussed the special needs of migrants during the pandemic as well as the counter-trafficking efforts of her office. LTC (ret.) Kirk Patrick Johnson, Assistant Vice President, Port Authority of Jamaica, explained the importance of keeping the country’s ports open for cargo traffic in light of suspended cruise operations, and the innovations underway to make the process contactless and streamlined.
