The Perry Center was honored to contribute to the Third US-Suriname Strategic Dialogue held at the US Department of State on February 1. Dean of Academic Affairs Scott Tollefson represented the Center at the forum, led by US Assistant Secretary of State for Western Hemisphere Affairs Brian Nichols and Foreign Minister of Suriname Albert Ramdin. Suriname’s Minister of Defense, Krishna Mathoera (pictured), presided over the Security Cooperation session, providing opportunities to share current priorities and explore future collaborative efforts.
The Perry Center values its strong ties to the security and defense community in Suriname and seeks to be a responsive partner. Most recently, at the request of the Commander of the Armed Forces, the Perry Center conducted its flagship Strategy and Defense Policy Course in Suriname. It included participation by all three services of the military, the police, the Coast Guard, the Foreign Ministry, and the Ministry of Defense, as well as high-level officials that included Perry Center alumni. The Perry Center looks forward to future engagement with Suriname.
