On Tuesday, August 15, the Perry Center welcomed a delegation from the Western Hemisphere Institute for Security Cooperation (WHINSEC) as part of the group’s annual visit to Washington, DC. Led by the institutions’ Commandant, Colonel Robert F. Alvaro, the delegation included 46 students and personnel from WHINSEC’s Maneuver Captains Career Course (M-CCC) and Command and General Staff Officer Course (CGSOC).
Mr. Jeffrey Murphy, Acting Director of the Perry Center, greeted the visitors, and Dr. Boris Saavedra, Associate Professor, provided an organizational briefing on the mission and history of Center. Dr. Saavedra also presented on the role of extra-regional actors in the security and defense environment of the Americas.
During their trip to Washington, the WHINSEC delegation will also attend programs at Fort Myer and the Organization of American States (OAS).
