Dr. Bitencourt briefing the WHINSEC delegation

On August 20, a delegation from the Western Hemisphere Institute for Security Cooperation (WHINSEC) visited the Perry Center for an academic exchange. The delegation included around 50 students and faculty from WHINSEC’s Maneuver Captains Career Course and Command and General Staff Officer Course, and was led by LTC Guillermo Ventura, Director of the WHINSEC School of Professional Military Education. Perry Center Academic Dean Luis Bitencourt greeted the visitors and provided an organizational briefing on the Center. He also gave a presentation on challenges in security and defense. Perry Center Professor Guillermo Pacheco gave a presentation on security policy and systems in the Western Hemisphere, and former Perry Center Professor (and current CISA-NDU Professor) Carlos Ospina presented on strategic leadership. During their trip to the Washington metro area, the WHINSEC delegation also attended events at Fort Myer and the Inter-American Defense College.
