On October 3, the Perry Center hosted 48 members from the Honduran National Defense College (Colegio de Defensa Nacional – CDN), led by Brigadier General Mario Bueso Caballero and Infantry Colonel Jose Mejia Medina. The delegation was welcomed by Perry Center Director Paul Angelo, Deputy Director Ruben Lopez, Dean Scott Tollefson, Colonel Barbara Fick, and Professor David Spencer. Dr. Angelo opened the discussion, followed by Dr. Spencer who provided an organizational briefing about the Center’s mission, courses, and academic engagement in the region. Colonel Fick shared information about new, upcoming programming and courses on women, peace, and security. The Honduran Colegio de Defensa Nacional was the institutional recipient of the 2022 William J. Perry Award for Excellence in Security and Defense Education. The Perry Center has an academic partnership with the college and conducted a mobile Security and Defense Policy course in Tegucigalpa last spring.
