Professor Boris Saavedra, CHDS Assistant Professor of National Security Affairs, discussed the inroads that Iran and Russia are making into military programs in Latin America at an April 21 meeting of the American Legion National Defense Post 46 in Washington, DC. A retired Brigadier General of the Venezuelan Air Force and a combat pilot who has held high-level positions in the Venezuelan Armed Forces, including Commander of the Air Defense function, Saavedra is now also enrolled in a PhD program in Spain.
