The Ministry of Defense of Ecuador and the Perry Center held an Ecuador-United States Executive Seminar on “How to Strengthen National and Regional Security” from June 17-19 in Quito, Ecuador. The seminar addressed US and Ecuadorian national policies, strategies, and processes and the importance of national and regional security and defense as the axis of national development. This event was opened by Perry Center Director Dr. Paul Angelo and Colonel (ret.) Luis Auz Beltrán, Undersecretary of Cabinet of the Ministry of National Defense. The opening audience comprised the leadership and other decision-makers from National Security Council member institutions and public safety agencies. Perry Center professors Celina Realuyo, Boris Saavedra, and David Spencer gave lectures on national security strategy development, inter-agency cooperation, inter-sectoral cooperation between the public and private sectors in cybersecurity, security, and defense economics, and international cooperation to improve defense and security in the region for almost 100 participants during the three-day seminar.
