Dr. Boris Saavedra

On June 20, 2023, twenty members of the Dominican Naval Command and Staff College visited the William J. Perry Center for Hemispheric Defense Studies. The group received an organization briefing and presentations on combating transnational threat networks and cybersecurity. Professor Celina Realuyo made a presentation on combating transnational threat networks, which focused on the shift in drugs and drug trafficking methods as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. The group also discussed the shift to synthetic drugs, which has changed the nature of drug trafficking. Dr. Boris Saavedra made a presentation on cybersecurity, discussing how the cyber world is continuously changing with the introduction of advanced artificial intelligence (AI) platforms and how to analyze AI in a political and strategic context.
