What is the Alumni Leaders Summit?
The Alumni Leaders Summit is a weeklong leadership event in Washington DC designed to support the development of strong alumni cohorts, encourage the growth of chapters and in-country networks, facilitate new connections, and provide leadership tools for the benefit of the entire alumni community. Participants will actively participate in team building exercises, round table discussions, and benefit from relevant case studies and presentations from distinguished guest speakers, and Perry Center faculty and staff.
Who is eligible to apply?
Applicants must be a graduate of WJPC in-person (Washington DC or local) or virtual course. As this event will be delivered in Spanish, advanced Spanish language skills are required. Previous Summit participants are ineligible to apply.
Will you offer a Summit in English?
We are developing an English language Caribbean community Summit and look to program this activity in the future. While we don’t have an estimated timeline yet, please know that we are committed to providing this opportunity in English. Please refer to the links section for the
How do I get selected to attend?
Participants will be evaluated based on demonstrated leadership experience and interest in furthering these skills in service to the local and international alumni community. Please answer the selected essay questions honestly, there are no right or wrong answers! We are looking for persons interested in supporting and creating community and who actively participate in building a strong network of collaborative security and defense practitioners.
How many people can attend the 2024 Summit?
The 2024 Alumni Leaders Summit is designed to support a cohort of 30 Perry Center graduates, approximately two people per country.
There is no alumni chapter in my country, can I still apply?
Yes! This opportunity is open to everyone interested in developing leadership skills for the benefit of their community.
I’m not involved with my alumni chapter, can I still apply?
Yes, the Summit will address strengthening alumni networks, and all applicants who express interest in contributing and supporting the development of the alumni community are welcome to apply even if not currently involved with the network.
I am active-duty military, can I apply?
Yes, all graduates, both civilian and military of WJPC in-person (Washington DC or local) or virtual course may apply by completing the application form.
I just completed a WJPC course, am I eligible to apply?
Yes, all interested graduates may apply regardless of when their course was completed.
My country is considered a high-income country, can I still apply?
Yes, all interested course graduates may apply, regardless of country status as established by the World Bank.
